Step aside Manwhich! Here’s a sloppy joe recipe that’s just as easy, and probably more healthy.
- 1 lb burger
- 1 TBSP minced garlic
- 1/4 onion chopped
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 1 TBSP Red Wine/Balsamic Vinegar
- 1 TBSP Soy Sauce
- Pinch of basil
Begin by browning the burger and adding the garlic and onion near the end of the browning process. Reduce to simmer and and the tomato sauce, vinegar, soy sauce and basil. I know, vinegar seems very strange in this recipe, but the balsamic adds a nice fruity flavor. Simmer for a few minutes, then serve over bread. Some prefer to add cheese between the meat and bread, I’m not so crazy about it.
This meal was quick, and while not very balanced, it could be balanced with the addition of any vegetable side.
How can you say not balanced? There are tomatoes in it, you serve it on bread. I’m not a huge fan of sloppy joes at all but this doesn’t sound so bad.
The vinegar doesn’t surprise me, is there anything that you don’t add vinegar too?
